I now believe that Iraqi is beginning to slide into a civil war. American soldiers are still being attacked and killed but increasingly it is the average Iraqi that is being targeted. Especially those who are deemed as helping the American-influenced government. Over 200 Iraqi's have been killed in the last week or so. This includes 2 influential Shiite Clerics who were assassinated today. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6021654/ The MSNBC article hints at this burgeoning civil war:
"There have been tit-for-tat killings of Shiite and Sunni clerics in the past year, widely believed to be motivated by sectarian sentiments. However, the embattled police never thoroughly investigate such murders."
The war has certainly developed into a 3 pronged war. The Americans vs. the rebels and then there are the Iraqis vs. Iraqis. I'm not sure what can be done in Iraq at this point. It sure seems bleak and yet Bush stubbornly keeps on trying to sell America on a bag of bullshit that Iraq is a success. God I'm tired of W. (Have I made that clear yet on my blog? lol).
